Postcard from the Lakes

This week was different.

Even though I’ve been recovering from being ill, I had one of the most productive weeks I've had in a while.

Work was good. Progress on projects outside of work was even better.

And the thing that changed?

Focusing on just one thing.

It’s so easy to get caught up trying to do everything.

Trying to tick off every task, be everywhere at once, spin every plate.

But when you do that, you end up finishing the week feeling drained and realising you didn’t even touch the most important thing you needed to move forward.

This week reminded me:
Productivity isn't about doing more things. It’s about doing the right things.

The Heart of the Matter

You don’t need to do everything, everywhere, all the time.

Your work, your life, your relationships they all need you to focus on the right things, in the right places, at the right time.

Otherwise, you’re just staying busy without actually making progress.

And busy doesn’t build anything.

Focused action does.

Your Toolkit for Change

  1. What’s the one thing that, if improved, would make everything else easier or more powerful?

  2. Stop bouncing between 10 things. Pick the one thing that truly matters this week.

  3. Distractions will always be there. Not everything deserves your time and energy.

  4. One focused week can change more than a month of scattered effort.

Making It Personal

What’s the one area in your life or work right now that you know needs attention?

The one thing you keep avoiding because everything else feels urgent?

That's your sign.

Lock in on it.

Because when you move the needle on the most important thing, everything else gets lighter too.

Why This Matters to You

Because feeling busy and feeling productive are two different things.

You can spend your whole week grinding and still not move forward.

Or you can focus on one thing that actually matters and watch everything else get easier.

It’s a choice.

Pick wisely.

Wrapping Up

You don’t need to be everywhere.

You don’t need to do everything.

You just need to focus.

One thing. Done well. Done fully.

That’s what real progress looks like.

Until next Sunday,
Justin
