April Bank Holiday @Helvellyn
Have you ever found yourself overwhelmed by a never ending to do list that keeps growing no matter how hard you work?
During my reflection this week, I came across an image that I wanted to share because it captures the struggle many of us face with our ever expanding to do lists.

The Heart of the Matter
Prior to bank holiday I was looking forward to disconnect from everything up. Whilst on the way back from the lake district and seeing that post it made me reflect deeper about April so far.
It's easy for us to treat everything as urgent and important. We create endless to do lists and wonder why we feel scattered and overwhelmed at the end or start of each day.
But as I looked at this framework, I realised how many things I was putting in my "Must do" column that really belonged in "Could do" or "Should do" instead.
The real progress happens when we get brutal with ourselves about what truly deserves our immediate attention and what can wait or even be dropped completely.
Your Toolkit for change
Flip your thinking: Start asking "What can I eliminate?" instead of "What else can I add?"
Make tough cuts: I'm learning to be comfortable saying no to good opportunities so I can say yes to great ones.
Focus on impact, not activity: Ask yourself which few activities will create the most significant results these belong in your "Must do" column.
Making It Personal
Think back to your last to do list. How many items have you labeled as "high priority" when they really aren't?
What if instead of trying to do everything, you identified the few things that truly matter and gave them your full attention?
Why This Matters to You
The difference between people who achieve their biggest goals and those who stay busy without results often comes down to this:
Productivity isn't about doing more things it's about doing the right things.
When you focus your energy on a smaller number of truly important tasks instead of spreading yourself thin across everything, you give yourself an edge in both results and wellbeing.
Your Next Steps
For each task you're about to add to your list ask: "What would happen if this didn't get done at all?"
Wrapping Up
What's crazy is that sometimes the tasks we think are most urgent aren't actually moving us forward at all. They're just keeping us busy while the truly important work waits.
It's shocking to think how much time we spend on things that won't matter next week, let alone next year. I'm not saying every task needs to be life changing that's like anything in this world but the moral here is that prioritisation is what keeps you moving forward toward your true potential.
For me, this framework wasn't just about managing tasks it was a powerful reminder to count my blessings of time and attention and invest them where they truly matter.
As we move through our week, remember:
Not everything is a priority and that's exactly the point.
Until next Sunday,
Justin
💡 Your "Must do" list should be short enough to memorise and important enough to transform.
P.S. What's one task you can remove from your "Must do" list today that doesn't truly deserve your immediate attention?
