What do you think of when someone asks, "What's your purpose?"

Now you're probably stuck there thinking there isn't an answer right away and that's okay.

The Reality Check

From my experience, this half of the year has been one of my toughest half of the years in a while. The word purpose is something that I have lost sight and have started to reconnect with: what actually is my purpose in life and where do I actually put out in the world.

Now with purpose, how do you actually define the word purpose? Is it your why, building something meaningful, or is it something completely different?

Take a Step Back

Now I want you to take a step back and think back to when you were a little kid. Whatever thought you have in your mind now, just hold onto it a little bit and relive that moment right now.

Ask yourself, as that kid you are right now, "What did you want to become when you're older?" Just hold on to that.

Beyond Career

Now we often link purpose with aspirations and career but what if we took purpose away from it and think about what our purpose is in life towards how we treat others and how we treat ourselves?

There are so many pillars that fall into this word purpose and it's something that I am now moving forward with and have experienced recently: what is my purpose towards myself? What's my purpose towards others around me?

Your Move

Now is a perfect time, first week here in August, to really sit down and reflect, getting it out of your head and actually building that better version of yourself. Maybe a different direction or a different feeling that you want to navigate towards this month. Try to pick a theme or an area related to how you would define purpose and take that chunk and work on it towards this month.

Wrapping Up

It's been a while since I came and wrote and spent time with you guys but I think this newsletter probably says it all. Deep down I appreciate every single one of you for sticking around and I look forward to reconnecting every Sunday.

Until next Sunday,
Justin

💡 Purpose isn't just about what you do. It's about how you show up for yourself and others.
