This week I wanted to talk about something that’s been on my mind the idea of a diversion.
You know when you’re driving somewhere and suddenly the road ahead is closed? You’re forced to take a different route. Sometimes it’s a few miles. Sometimes it’s thirty. Either way, it takes you off your original plan.
That’s kind of how life works too.
We all have goals, plans, and things we want to do whether it’s a project, a trip, or just spending time with people we care about. But sometimes life steps in and changes the route.
That happened to me recently. I’ve had a goal and a clear vision, but I drifted off it for a bit. Not because I lost focus just because other priorities came up. Things that needed attention right there and then.
And that’s okay. You can’t always have everything in the front seat.
Some diversions are a smooth cruise clear signs, easy directions, no stress. But others? You lose your way completely. No signal. No map. No clue how to get back.
You keep driving, hoping for a sign to point you home. And the truth is, there always is one. It just might take longer to show up than you planned.
Yesterday, I was driving back from taking my mum shopping about 55 miles one way and coasting along the motor way the reserve tank comes on. No petrol stations nearby but luckily had connection, by the time i got to the petrol station 4 miles left.
It reminded me of the same thing in life: when you hit a diversion, make sure you’re still equipped. Keep enough fuel in the tank to find your way back.
The Heart of the Matter
Diversions happen.
You can plan every detail, and life will still throw you off track sometimes.
But a diversion doesn’t mean you’re lost. It’s just a different path to the same place.
And even if you lose your way completely, there will always be a sign to guide you back. You just have to keep going until you see it.
Your Toolkit for Change
If you’re off track, don’t panic pause and refuel..
Take note of what’s changed and what still matters.
Be patient sometimes the signs take longer to appear.
Keep your focus on direction, not perfection.
Making It Personal
Are you on a diversion right now?
Maybe life’s thrown a curveball, or something else has taken priority.
Don’t beat yourself up. It’s okay to slow down and re-route.
What matters is that you know where you’re heading and that you’ve got enough fuel to get there.
Why This Matters to You
Because life isn’t always a straight road.
You’ll take turns you didn’t expect. You’ll hit delays. You’ll lose signal and wonder if you’re still going the right way.
But if you stay patient and keep moving, you’ll find the next sign and it’ll take you right where you need to go.
Your Next Steps
If things feel off course, check your direction.
What’s still important? What needs your energy now?
Then plan your next step. Not all at once just enough to keep moving.
Wrapping Up
Diversions happen to everyone.
It’s not failure. It’s part of the journey.
Keep your tank full trust the route, and remember you’ll find your way back.
Until next Sunday,
Justin
💡 A diversion isn’t the end of the road it’s just a different route to where you’re meant to go.
